HOW I CAN HELP
With over 15 years experience as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), and many years prior to that working as an RN in a birth center, my goal is to help you be the most confident and comfortable breastfeeding mom you can be. My approach is calming, compassionate and practical. It is important for me to know what you want to take away from the home visit. It's all about working together to meet you and your baby's needs. I want to help you and your baby build a mutually satisfying breast feeding relationship.
reasons you might need an IBCLC
Newly home from the hospital and feeling lost?
Painful feedings, irritated, creased, cracked, or bleeding nipples?
Severely engorged or have plugged ducts and unable to get relief?
Concerned about slow infant weight gain?
Questioning whether you have a low milk supply?
WHAT DOES IBCLC MEAN?
I've learned over my years of practice that the average person is not aware of what constitutes an IBCLC. With that in mind, I want to share information that will help clear up any confusion. As described by the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health...
The IBCLC credential is the premier and only certification for lactation consultants. Consumers, employers and health care team members can trust that individuals who hold the IBCLC credential have demonstrated competence to practice and that the public is protected from unsafe and unethical practitioners through IBLCE's long-standing disciplinary process and procedures.
IBLCE is short for the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners. Their mission is to establish the highest standard in lactation and breastfeeding care worldwide and certify individuals who meet these standards.
